I am so in love with this photo and my regular readers will understand why. I'll try to explain it for anyone else who wanders in.
Cecily is my best friend. We lived together when we were both active alcoholics and drug addicts. We saw the worst of each other. She got sober soon after I did, and we've become closer ever since. Before and after sobriety, she was always the woman who did make-up for me if I needed fancy make-up. I don't know how, really. I hardly ever wear it. So for big parties or for Halloween, I'd always go to her ahead of time and she'd do my hair and my make-up.
Last night we asked her to do the same for my daughter, who had changed from "schoolmarm" during the day to Rock Star. When S. was a baby, I remember Cecily saying that she'd be the cool "Aunt" who S. could come to for girlie stuff. :-)
The icing on the cake is seeing Tori, their amazing daughter, looking up at her god sister whom she adores.
(And yes, I'm cross-posting with my Flickr account. Welcome to Day 1 of trying to blog every day this month)!
Awwwwwww. I love this one too!!! Cecily helped me with makeup at your wedding. Actually, I would like to get lessons from her to do the top part of the eye lid.

Can't believe how S has grown up. That picture is very evocative. I have a bit of a thing for black and white photographs.
