I have been fortunate enough to know Benjamin Lloyd for a long time now. Though we disappeared from each other's lives for a while, I can only assume that we reappeared exactly when we were meant to. A marvelous actor, a gifted writer, and a truly excellent human being, it's been a pleasure to have had the opportunity to do photography work for Ben. I've taken portraits of him teaching acting classes for his website and now, as he's embarked upon this incredible adventure of White Pines Productions, I've been hired to take photos of some of the events this summer.
The first event was something he's called The Creative Commons where actors, writers, and performers are invited to meet, collaborate, and create.
The next event was the first of the 2011 Resident Ensembles. The first being The Berserker Residents, a fabulous group of comedic actors who were there to showcase the newest play they have been working on and I have to say, it was a remarkable experience to get to witness something in the works like that! An amazing crowd turned out and despite the summertime heat, everyone really enjoyed themselves.
Ben recently had White Pines Productions successfully incorporated, got approved for continued funding from the Wyncote Foundation, and had a fabulous article about what he's doing appear in The Philadelphia Inquirer. He wrote a lovely blog post about this "gift economy" concept that illustrates really well what White Pines is all about, and the kind of person Ben is. I'm looking forward to three more events as official photographer, and likely several more events as a happy guest.
