A couple of weeks ago I went with my friend Cecily Kellogg to a networking/social media type of event from which I normally recoil. It was put on by Just Centsible Consulting, Best Buy, and hosted at Seasons 52 in King of Prussia. This was actually a VIP event, and because Kelly is awesome and Cecily is my BFF, I was allowed an invite as well.
I enjoyed it far more than I expected and found out some wonderful things about Best Buy I didn't know, such as their community involvement, their support in-store for women, and their @15 program for teens. I ate great food and met some amazing women and generally had a fantastic time!
The next weekend, this past Saturday to be precise, I went with Cecily and her daughter Tori to a "Tech Bites" event at the Best Buy store in King of Prussia. A chef from Seasons 52 was there giving cooking demonstrations and there were areas all around the store where we could check out demos of new toys high tech equipment. We had Tori's dress rehearsal for her dance recital first, so we arrived for the second 'showing' a little after 2pm.
We watched Chef Anne wow the crowd as she demonstrated how easily you could make a fabulous dish for yourself at home:
But let's be honest here. We came because of the fabulous prizes they were giving away. Grand prize? $2,400 worth of kitchen appliances (stainless steel dishwasher, refrigerator, oven/range, and over-the-range microwave). They were also giving away individual kitchen items such as a George Foreman Grill and a rice cooker, as well as a digital camera and gift certificates. They would be doing a drawing from the box where we had placed our entry forms at 3:30.
We checked out the 3D television and were very impressed!
And then I was having a grand time trying out a hula hooping game on the Wii Fit (which we totally want in our house). I ranked 1st place! Then I tried out some Kung Fu thing where I had to copy what the cartoon characters were doing and it required a lot of intense concentration, so I hadn't realized they had begun pulling names out way over by the front of the store...
...so I didn't hear when MY NAME WAS PULLED AS THE GRAND PRIZE WINNER!!
Yeah. I won a Frigidaire freaking kitchen set!!
I'm still in shock, waiting for the phone call to arrange delivery. I feel like I'll believe it when they are actually in my little house.
So it just goes to show you, it pays to get out of the house sometimes. :-)
